After months of construction, American Glory BBQ, replete with its redundancies in signage, is about to open. Located one door up the street from a proven legendary Hudson restaurant, Swoon, we expect it to open over this Memorial Day weekend. Walked by today and noticed that stools are at the bar and chairs and table at the ready.
Lets hope that American Glory BBQ turns out to be even half as “legendary” as its neighbor. That will be a great addition to the eating and drinking in Hudson.
This place sucks! and the owners are obnoxious and crude. The crowd is trashy. There goes the neighborhood..
I just went there this past weekend and it was horrible. I don’t know how they have the face to say they’re the best BBQ joint in the area. Yeah, if there aren’t any others in town. I didn’t like the crowd either. It doesn’t seem to fit into the Warren Street theme. This place belongs in Kingston near the malls.
Thanks for the comments. I have not done more than walk by. Plan to go in next week or so to try food and brews.

Food was terrific, and I know BBQ, decor fantastic.
I don’t know what restaurant these other remarks are referring to, but it is most definitely not American Glory. I’ve had dinner here now twice and the food, ambiance, and overall quality was more then expected, especially from someone who frequents Hudson restaurants. The owner (singular) was nothing but delightful, the music fit perfectly with the surroundings, and the last time I checked, overcrowded and loud were terms associated with a GREAT restaurant having great food, not a trashy one. Sounds like Patty and Jack are a few passive-aggressive restaurant owners, pissed at how well and fast this amazing restaurant has taken off.
I have had the opportunity to eat and toss a few back at American Glory, and I have to say great beer selection and delicious ribs. Did you know that they have a pool table?
I was playing trivia there the other night! Trivia and Pool.. haven’t seen anything like this in Hudson in years! Chatham Ale on tap- I like the support of a local brewery!
Everybody I know that ate here ended up with toxic food poisoning, including a staff member. Apparantly some so sick they plan to litigate. Patty is right, better suited to a Walmart/Widewaters mall or perhaps an airport setting, not for Warren Street.
I’ve eaten here on three different occasions over the past two weeks. I don’t know where Jack and Patty ate because it surely was not American Glory. This venue is a gem and a much needed wonderful addition to our lovely town. The menu is quite extensive and the food descriptions so enticing that I had a hard time deciding on what to eat. I’ve tried the St.Louis ribs and pulled pork –both of which were fantastic—succulent and flavorful and trust me, I’m a discerning BBQ frequenter. I heard rave reviews about the prime rib, brisket and catfish and my vegetarian colleagues were quite complementary of the non meat selections The food presentations are very appealing and the attention to detail in the decor and overall ambiance is just simply marvelous. The bar is classy and very inviting and those ice towers do deliver the perfect beer. You can eat downstairs or upstairs if you prefer a more intimate dining experience. The owner is ever present, very friendly and personable and runs a first-class operation and the patrons I’ve witnessed consist of business people, locals, families and area visitors. There is nothing trashy or obnoxious about this place—Jenny is right–seems like Pat and Jack might have some ulterior motive. American Glory is a must visit!!!! Congratulations and Welcome to Hudson!!!
I am proud to have this great new restaurant in Hudson. The food, atmosphere and service are top notch. People are coming to town to visit this new destination. What more can you ask for?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the bad reviews were local competition afraid for their own business.
I just have to agree with Tim—I weekend in the Berkshires and a friend had told me about this new Hudson addition. I was so confused yet intrigued by the drastically mixed reviews that I just had to try it out myself. Well, not once, not twice, but now three visits en route up north and I still can’t get enough. This place is fabulous—a star on the Hudson Map–this place is a winner hands down!
Good food, reasonable prices, good service, restoration of a historical building and a viable employment generating business; sounds like a good thing to me.
Having been there twice I can vouch for the good food, reasonable prices and good service.
The work that was done with the renovation adds to the atmosphere of the facility while still retaining much of the original structure making this old building once again an intimate part of the neighborhood rather than a distraction.
Jobs; in a time when jobs are scarce in Columbia County why would any one begrudge the opening and operation of an establishment that creates them.
From the sounds of some of the barbs being thrown, some folks may have gotten their feelings hurt with the new place on the block.
Seems I heard the same kind of jibberish when the plans for the new Walmart/Lowes mall was being discussed.
I find it quite odd that the exact same “rave” review phrases have been used on other food review sites for this place. Which leads me to believe the owners themselves are doing damage control and posting rave reviews about their own place because it’s hard for me to believe that the same person has nothing better to do than sit by a computer all day and post great reviews of this restaurant. The owner is “ever present”? …nice try Joe. get a life. your place does suck. Been there once and never again. Had a friend visit and they agreed, nothing to write home about. I think it’s pretty pathetic that the owner has to come on to these websites where people seek honest food reviews and post false reviews of his own place.
Who would come on a site to say the place has a pool table and not post about the food? the gig is up.
I find it hilarious that they he thinks other restaurants have it out for him. I read the article on the regis-star newspaper and had to come and comment. It’s not other restaurants that are complaining about you, buddy. Your food does suck. Accept and move on. Don’t be a sore loser.
I guess only time will tell. I give it another year and a half. I just hope nobody else gets sick.
I visited this place about a couple weeks ago and thought I would stop by to read the reviews just to see what it said. I’m normally not one to leave a review but this time I felt it was my duty to do so.
The place is good looking I give it that much, but the food was nothing what I thought it would be. I ordered a burger and it was pure slop. The way it was presented to me felt like I had ordered it from a drive through. I’ve had better burgers at DQ. My friend opted to have the chix salad and that was simply pathetic, to the point where we both just looked at each other in disbelief. The drinks were watered down and the beer was not ice cold like they claim. It was just beer. When we got the check, it was wrong and they had overcharged us. We pointed out the mistake and the owner? got short with us, but when we were able to finally prove it, he sort of shoved the money back at us and walked away. I think they expected for us to actually GIVE them the money. what nerve.
In general the crowd was loud and obnoxious. Not the kind of place you can really chill. i don’t mind a place with a bit of noise if it’s fun, but it was that kind of offensive noise that ruin your dining experience.
I honestly could never see myself going there again. I think this place is going through a faze where everyone wants to see how good they are, but only time will indeed tell and as time goes by business will stop. I can’t see how can a place like that stay in business for long.
I would recommend max’s in redhook. It’s worth the drive.

Don’t believe the negative reviews, draw your own conclusions. Businesses and residents are jealous of it’s success and will not succeed in trying to keep people away. It’s a shame there are so many slanderous haters in Hudson. No wonder night life and food options are in the dark-ages and this place stirs up so much emotion. I particularly love “Steve’s” comment. That’s grounds for slander and libel…who’s the real “sore loser” here?
