A trip to the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum to catch the Kosuth show on its closing day. On the walls outside are neon statements from Whistler expressing “skepticism” about the merits of museums and academic art critics and curators. Inside a timeline with three layers of text….

Another bit of industrial Cambridge makes way for some as yet unknown “higher use”. This auto parts junk yard on River St., near intersection with Putnam Ave., is clearly “rake clean” and ready for the developers.

Reconstruction of the pocket park on Franklin St proceeds with the addition of a stone veneer to the concrete block walls. Not clear that this is actually an improvement. But, will have to wait for the whole project to be complete to pass judgement.

We went to the Harvard Natural History Museum in search of an exhibit on shoes. It wasn’t open but we saw Harvard’s Coelecanth. We also saw a not-so-good movie spoofing folk music, “A Mighty Wind”.

Last of our series of Boston Philharmonic concerts. The Debussy was a real experience in extremely precise quiet music making. We signed up for next year which will be a whole year of Mahler on the 25th anniversary of the orchestra.

We went to MassMOCA in North Adams on our way to a wedding in Great Barrington. Saw Gregory Crewdson’s staged photos. Also Robert Wilson’s “14 Stages of the Cross” installation.
The Robert Wilson “14 Stages of the Cross” piece takes up the entire giant hall at Mass MOCA. Piece left me cold, but, then, the references that are probably obvious to practicing Christians of most genres fell on deaf ears.
While I was at Mass MOCA I added to my collection of Fire Connections. Then saw this lone sign stenciled on the wall in the museum. No real fire connection anywhere in sight??? Maybe its art??

After an afternoon drive from North Adams to Great Barrington on Saturday afternoon, we found ourselves with nothing to do on Sunday morning before the wedding….. so,… off to the Norman Rockwell Museum. This building now resides in my “Ugly Building” folder. Robert A. M. Stern, the architect, must be pulling a Johnson.
Karen really wanted this suitcase for one of her projects.
