Moore’s Law for Trash Dumps

Yesterday’s New York Times Business page brought the cheery news that the US capacity for burying trash has sky-rocketed. It seems that a combination of environmental regulations and the natural tendency of monopoly to win out over mom and pop enterprise has produced a glut of dump capacity.

A new version of Moore’s Law in action.

Through a combination of consolidation and new practices our nation’s dumps are well ahead of our national culture of trash.
