7/6/2019 – DOG, Bard, dance recital

Saturday

Breakfast at Bob’s. Went to post office to mail back 20 or so books from the 2018 Photobook show. Farmer’s market. DOG. Nap. Spoke with Harvey. He claims to be slightly better but still flat on his back in bed.

Went to Bard in the evening for a dance recital. First piece was written 20 years ago. Didn’t really care for the music and the vocals. No real vocabulary for the dance. Second piece, an original score for Mercy written and performed by Meshell Ndegeocello,was much more interesting musically.

7/5/2019 – Bantam, home, dinner with Esther, Rose, Dean….

Friday

Had a leisurely morning with coffee and breakfast on the porch at Bantam. Harvey stayed in bed. I chatted with Harvey for a while. Spoke of people who visit and yet never talk about anyone but themselves. Arrived back in Hudson after noon. Both colds still cooking. Sent text to Ted announcing no tennis until next Tuesday – time to rest the wrist. Took a nap.

Thursday – 1/5/2017

Snowman still standing. 

Meeting at Bard with Ole Breuning. Safety Committee. Joe Ahern, Warren St neighbor we met at Ted and Anne’s house last Sprjng was there. He is working on risk management. Very good meeting. They are actively envisioning what building to try out.

Stopped at Otto’s in Germantown on the way back. 

Ole dropped me at the library. I worked on new DOG website. Had lunch at Red Chopstick. Long nap. Karen went to see movie The Harder They Fall at Bliss Tower. 

Saturday – 11/5/2016

Bob’s Diner for breakfast. Price Chopper, &  farmer’s market. 

Then I drove to Walmart for tennis balls and 3-in-One oil; then to the bank for cash and a stop at Fairview Wine. 

Gallery watch until 3pm. 

Tennis at CGCC with Ted Dewsnap. Unusually we played a set. I won 6-2. 

Bard Conservatory Orchestra: Beethoven’s Leonora Overture; Bartok: Concerto for Orchestra; and Shostakovich Symphony No. 5. We sat in Row H. unusually close to the orchestra. The strings seemed on top of us. The balance was not what I usually like. Next time we will try seats back around Row T.image

Saturday – 11/14/2015

Another slow day at gallery.

Drove to Bard for concert. Went early to stop at Tivoli Artists Gallery. I was totally disoirented by the name of the show. Kept on looking for a connection stated by the tagline for the show but not in fact present.

The concert was much shorter than the first in this series. Not super interesting really.

Friday – 4/24/2015

Karen is away in Portland, OR at Fotofest. Gallery had two visitors including Bruce Bergman.

Music at Bard

Went with Howard Saunders to Bard. 7 PM pre lecture was quite good. in retrospective the argument for the Janacek having provenance from Russian music hardly seemed beyond a doubt. I imagined Prokofiev borrowing from Janacek just a bit later. The harp concerto was great with numerous effects that were surprising and new to me. The Goetz was only interesting as an example of the fact that lots of very good art is created and either never recognized during its period or lost thereafter.
