3/6/2019 – work and tennis

Wednesday 3/6/2019

Most of the day taken up with UTMH. Met with David A and John Friedman to talk about commission contracts. Also discussed leasing finance arrangements. David continued to ask about what Ole, Sam and Gayle are doing. Need to bring more discipline to their work. Then met with Seth. Ryder Cooley also there. Then, talk with Anita Harris. Finally Ole Breuning at Verdegris. Maybe I can get him more focused on home health agencies.

Cold all day. 12 degrees at 8am.  Walked back from One Hudson City Center at 3pm. Windy and cold all the way back.

Tennis doubles night at Total Tennis. Played very well. First set in particular. Won three sets. Very unusual. Played with Ray Siecinski at the end.

3/5/2019 – work, colonoscopy prep,and tennis

Tuesday 3/5/2019

UTMH team meeting. Quite brief because Seth did not attend. Spoke with Ball Consulting about dropping monthly retainer and going to a time and materials basis for future press releases. They will work on a white paper this month.

Went to CMH to meet with Lynn Carollo about colonoscopy in April.

Total Tennis at 6:30. Played doubles, three sets. Included Nicholas, a young pro who knew that I take lessons from Saif. Played quite well. Many good rallies. Tony Sarowitz, Franz ?? and Kevin ??  were partners also.

Pictures from ~1/3/19 at Andrea’s house.

Picture from August 2015 – at top of Mt. Greylock.

3/4/2019 – snow,

Monday 3/4/2019

Very fluffy snow almost all night, not much accumulation 2-3 inches. But lots of snow on the trees.

Rose bush

Meeting w Seth and David at UTMH about commissions and other. Not very useful. More from Seth about Troy Web and provisioning of new customers.

3/3/2019 – brunch, sluggish day, snow

Sunday 3/3/2019

Up at 6am. Puttered around aimlessly. Brunch at Home|Made Hudson across the street with Dave Drake. Food only so so.

Tomato cobbler with cheese.

…. long nap in early afternoon. Brief trip to ShopRite. Bumped into Ted as I was leaving. Made gore with hot Italian sausages for dinner. Also a salad with lettuce. Maybe getting into more salads. lots of chewing.

Snow started at 7:30. No walk in the snow because there was nothing underfoot even at 9pm.

3/2/2019 – HAL, Bauhaus, end of Rive Gauche

Saturday 3/2/2019

Breakfast at Bob’s. Then off to the library for the board meeting and planning retreat.

Meeting went very well. People really enjoyed the group breakout sessions. Productive discussion of board governance issues. Also toured the basement (Lower Level) which was new for most of the board members. Board rejected the idea of a co-presidency in favor of Chairman of the Board and President. I think and stated that if we put together an integrated fundraising committee, then the chair of that committee will take a big load off the president.

Late afternoon went to TSL to see a movie about the Bauhaus school and its impact on architecture, urban planning, etc. A little sleepy during its coverage of the 1920s and 30s. Very interesting stuff about urban design and development in South America. Columbia and Venezuela.

Karen had received a call from Dave Drake that Rive Gauche in Athens where he is bartending is closing today. So, we went over for a drink and nibbles. The place was very crowded and noisy, mostly with locals. As we were getting ready to go Samira ?? Showed up. Karen and she went out to have a smoke accompanied as it turned out by the owner Joe’s SO. When I turned my stool over to Samira I found Karen propped up against the buyilding. One Scotch and a nicotine rush and she had to hang on to me for the walk to the car.

3/1/2019

Friday 3/1/2019

Up early again, 5:30am.

UTMH: Talked with David Ball and Greg Turner at Ball Consulting. They essentially repeated their rather narrow focus on press and media relations when asked again how they might help reach our new target markets. Perhaps now Seth will be satisfied that we can jettison them as a monthly retainer. Move to time and materials basis.

Prepared materials for tomorrow’s HAL board retreat. Couple hours work. Spoke with Miranda Barry about the meeting. She continues to be quite sick with a cold.

Chatted with Matt Almeida who had done very little this week.

Played tennis with Ted at Old Chatham on the clay court. 1 1/2 hours. I played very badly.

2/28/2019 – DOG, UTMH, Tennis

Thursday 2:/28/2019

Up early, 4:45am. DOG web forms. A little UTMH.

Went to History Room at the library to participate in a psychology experiment for Caitie Hilverson, daughter of Liz Dolan. Involved solving a puzzle. . Tower of Hanoi.  After 3 rounds with 3 disks one try at 4 disks. Solved that in 17 moves, one more than the minimum. Then was asked on video how I had solved the puzzle.

Tennis lesson. Need to focus more on early prep with feet for ground strokes.

Made carrot mushroom loaf. A favorite.

2/26/2019 – work

Tuesday – 2/26/2019

Hip is bothering me. UTMH team meeting at 11. Seth and Gayle repeatedly talking past each other. Overall good review of last weeks training sessions in Brooklyn. MSA ready for SOMML until Erin finds errors in contract. Seth backed away from meeting with Ball Consulting in which i would ask them to give up retainer and move to time and expenses. Ole has a proposal going to Elmwood Home Health in Buffalo.

Talked about frustrations with UTMH at dinner with Karen. She suggested a written list of tasks to be presented to owners. Don’t let them off the hook. And remind them that my term is limited.

Didn’t go to tennis to give hip further rest.
