7/19/2019 – house project, work

Friday

Pancho and Jerry were back at the work at the front of the house at 8am sharp.

UTMH, met with Ole Breuning at Rev. He posed his usual complaints about why he couldn’t sell to home health agencies. Also proposed that the new website should have a sign up for a demo that would lead back to him exclusively. As always he is charming. Warned me again about Wexelman’s supposed malfeasance. At the end of the day I wrote a memo to David and Seth outlining reasons that they should let Ole go. None of these should surprise them. Just trying to stimulate some action.

Weekly telecon with Troy Web. I did the Russian translations of the RPM app. Spoke with Matt Almeida.

7/14/2019 – tennis, pig roast, DOG, drinks with David Drake

Sunday

Oatmeal for breakfast. Sunday NY Times on paper. Ellen Feldman.

Tennis with Ted at 11am. Played quite well. Won set 6-1.

The wrist somewhat less troubled. Got to focus on remedial work to get it back in shape. Watched lots of YouTube videos about wrist pain yesterday. Clearly I am suffering from DeQuervain’s syndrome. Found diagnostic maneuver that demonstrates this. Eichoff’s Test. Lots of approaches to resolving this problem. Cold, massage, stretching, strengthening….

Drove out to Claverack to Anna (Rachminov) and Allan Chapin’s estate for a Bastille Day Pig Roast. Multiple barns, huge house. Two pigs roasted. Lots of people we didn’t know. Karen spent a lot of time talking with a new person Catherine Dodge Smith. She has a complicated history as an actress then photographer, journalist, activist. I caught up with Carol Rusoff and her 12 yr old grand daughter.

Got back to gallery by 4pm. Guy came in gallery looked around and then came back just before closing to buy a piece of fabric art.

Drinks at Swoon with David Drake.

7/12/2019 – work, tooth cleaning, HAL mtg., drinks

Friday

Breakfast at Bob’s followed by shopping. UTMH – write new collateral about billing process, Troy Web telecon. Talk with Matt Almeida. Tooth cleaning. Looks like another tooth in upper left is infected and should be extracted.

Send this note and pictures to Ted and Chad Silver in ref a conversation we had after doubles night on Tuesday.

Subject: Warhol and the Last Supper
Chad and Ted,
Here are some pictures of this work now at The School in Kinderhook. Chad, you are right about the materials.

This might be my favorite Last Supper. But I also really like the Tintoretto version. Looks like a bunch of inebriates hanging out.

HAL Fundraising Committee meeting at Miranda Barry’s house. New member, Charlie Whittingham, experience fundraiser. He dove right in. Theresa Parsons, Gary Sheffer and David Murphy also participated. Charlie will bring some fresh eyes to our issues.

Ellen Feldman arrived for a weekend visit. Ted and Anne came over for our biweekly drink. Lots of talk about Paris since Ellen has just returned from her three month stay there.

7/9/2019 – Karen’s birthday, tennis

Tuesday

The Hostess cupcakes, our traditional birthday cake, seems to be shrinking with each passing year. Maybe the next birthday will require 4.

Skipped morning UTMH meetings. Drove to The School in Kinderhook for a private viewing of the galleries. There was a documentary of 1 hr 20 minutes on Basquiat’s life. We watched 30-40 minutes.

Lunch at Cascades.

Doubles tennis at Total Tennis. Played quite well. But, more important,  for the first time in weeks felt physically energetic and buoyant.

6/24/2019 – web projects, work, tennnis, book group

Monday

PT with Corey Smith at 7:30am. Asked him about a private consult to set up a home exercise protocol using the mat, rubber bands, and weights I already have.

Spent many hours working on integrating old websites into this one. Adding many new Projects as well as posts. Lots of material to work on. Played tennis with Ted at 1pm. Felt infinitely better than yesterday’s outing. Won a set 6-1. Pretty bouncy all and all.

Non-fiction book group. Just six people. I hadn’t read the book, No Ashes…. Pretty good discussion nevertheless.

6/13/2019 – UTMH, web, tennis

Thursday

7:30 am PT with Corey Smith. Very good session. Hip feels much better. Less pain, more mobility.

Afternoon spent in UTMH meeting with Michael Queralt, Seth and David in technology review. He appears willing to help us identify better platform and new developers. Very nice guy.

Michael Queralt

Tired by end of day, but substantially recovered from illness. Constipation finally over.

6/10 – 6/12/2019 – airplane illness

Monday – Wednesday

Went to PT at 7:30 with Corey. Very good session. Came home. By 9 I was in bed chilled and feeling terrible. Temperature over 101. Head buzzing, weak muscles but no respiratory symptoms. Also constipation continued. Felt marginally better Tuesday morning. Slightly lower temperature. Spent most of day in bed. Very little appetite. Drank lots of water. Several people showed up at 1pm to hang art. Fortunately she is competent with tools. I had little to do. Karen was off at a doctor’s appointment

Spoke with Miranda Barry via UberConference in late afternoon about Wednesday’s HAL Stakeholder event. Still no appetite and still constipated…..

Wednesday morning showed up and I felt considerably better. Weighed 220 lbs. Down from 227 just before we left for Europe on 5/20. Told Seth and David that I would come back to work on Thursday. More time in bed.

Went over to the library at 4pm for set up of event. Not a great turnout but important foundation people showed up and stayed largely til the end. Spoke at length with Richard Koskey about tennis in Hudson during the 1979s and ‘80s. He asked if I might play with him after he gets used to some new corrective contact lenses. Maybe August.

Went home and got in bed.

New at HAL

Summer reading program.

Costume from Mad Hatter Parade.

5/16/2019 – work, HAL, tennis, drinks with Ruth and Michael

Thursday

UTMH – telecon w David Ackerman and Tony Kieraldo about social media campaign. David was unusually engaged and positive. Go ahead for project. Tony performed very well.

Meeting late morning with Seth and Paul Hamann and another person in Florida about NY Rural Water Association project. I will work on process mapping.

Tennis lesson. Worked a lot on backhand ground stroke. Timing swing with bounce of ball. Backhand volley. Get racket out front. Arm motion towards ball. Big change in serve. Stand still, rock shoulders like a cartwheel without twisting body. Also less speed.

Drinks with Michael and Ruth. Big spread of food. Good stories especially from Michael’s post high school years. Hitch hiking, freight trains.  Also found out Michael never went to college.
