Listened to more of the Bag Man podcast about Spiro Agnew. Lots of things we have not known about before. Shopping at Walmart because Karen needed to pick up some pills. DOG gallery sitting. Mowed back yard with push mower for first time this summer. Perhaps I should look for an electric mower?
Drinks with David Drake at Swoon.
Received the following via WhatsApp from Jonathan on Thursday. He is in Vietnam.
I asked today where it is was taken. He replied “Nghia An, central VN. Starting point for Ho Chi Minh Trail.” Then he added the following story:
Well, we’re at this goat restaurant in Nghệ An, we’d been there a while, maybe halfway through the meal when an at first faint and then progressively louder cry of a young goat was heard until it was dragged right past our table by it’s two front legs…. the goat knew what was up, we were within ten feet of the set up… it was really overwhelming… I cleared the fuck out of the restaurant for the last part… then they got to work on it, with the carcass but not the workers just slightly out of view …
He sent along these videos:
Overall a sluggish day. Sore throat, low energy. Worked on various new entries for projects in the diary. Old writing that seems germane even after ten or more years. Me and Religion and Are We Over Taxed..??..
A little gallery sitting….saw David Murphy on the street. He is back from Ft. Lauderdale.
Photos from Jonathan and Nan

By chance I had seen photos from these fields on Facebook in the last couple of days. I pointed out in a comment that there are over a billion bulbs planted by hand. When Karen and I went on a tour of this area in early March 2017 we saw men dangling prone in a box hauled across the field by a tractor planting the bulbs by hand. The tractor driver was standing in the field nearby having a smoke. The tractor is guided automatically over the field by GPS or laser location.
Tennis with Ted at 4pm. Dead on my feet. Stopped by 5pm due to rain.
Dinner with David Drake at Barnwood.
Up early to get to Fish and Game Rd CMH Physical Therapy by 7:39am. Hour long session with Susan Sheldon to treat my vertigo. Charming, thorough, and very practiced. She does 8-10 Epley Maneuvers a week. An hour later I was well on my way to bring cured.
Felt kind of buzzed for the rest of the day.
Worked on Fundamentals of Capitalism essay for Jonathan. Also more work on UTM marketing strategy.
Brief walk up the street.
Ellen Feldman came to work with Karen. Cooked chicken for dinner.
Went to bed early. Very tired.
51 degrees this morning. Forecast is for temperatures in the high 40s tonight. Lit pilot light and lubricated the circulation pump. Everything OK.
Sue Chiafullo came by for prep on gallery sitting Saturday. She talks loud and over you. Hard to get a word in.
Still working on blog posting about marketing to old customers. This piece is getting out of control. Got to focus on finishing a junk. Want to use this as a value add to email. MailChimp.
Talked with Matt Almeida. Always dependable. Other clients absent for today.
Went to NJ for Meredith’s 50th birthday party. Stopped in Summit. Looked at library, had coffee across from train station. Opening of an olive oil shop. Stayed over in Berkeley Heights. Continue reading
