6/22/2019 – drive to Boston, Paul and Ruth Richards, Jane Kogan 80th, DOG opening

Saturday

Left for Boston at 7am. Arrived Needham by 9:45. Visited with Paul and Ruth. He looks older, tired. He is recovering from pneumonia. She from diverticulitis surgery. Good visit.

Drove over to Griffin Museum. Pick up a bucket of books to return from last fall’s book show.

Arrived at Chinese restaurant in Brookline early for 1pm gathering to honor Jane Kogan’s 80th birthday. Kind of an odd event. Food not so good. Miriam’s two daughters and families were there. Spoke with Stuart Pitchel. He recalled my consulting at SRP Signs.  Sat next to some grumpy cousins from Jane’s family. Left at 2:15 before the speeches in order to get back to Hudson for the 6pm gallery opening event.

Everything ready/

Very crowded opening. 7 local artists brought their posses out. Glad when it was over at 8pm.

More The Closer.

2/2/2019 – Cambridge, Griffin Museum, friends

Saturday 2/2/2019

Breakfast with Linda Larson. Helped her with voicemail.

Lunch with Ruth and Paul Richards at Paddy’s Pub in West Netwon. He looks gaunt and slowed down. She is recovering from difficult diverticulitis with infection. Nevertheless they are in good spirits.

Then off to Museum of Fine Arts. Got there too find a line out onto Huntington Ave of people waiting to get in. Turns out the first weekend in each month the Bank of America buys everyone with a bank card free admission. So, off to the Griffin Museum with Esther. Not very interesting.

Stopped by Legal Seafoods in Tech Square for a cameo drop in where Jimmy and Dorothy Nelson’s extended family were celebrating Matt’s birthday. Her brother the lawyer looked quite depressed.

Dinner at a trendy, over-priced Italian joint on Main St., Sulmona. I was very grumpy.

Sunday – 2/5/2107

at Ryles.

Brunch with the regular crew at Ryles in Inman Square. Got confused about where I was headed, kept trying to drive to Davis Sq. The pull of the long history of brunches at now defunct Johnny D’s probably. Arranged not to sit near Ruth Goodman. Talked mostly with Michael Beach and Edie Bresler, new love interest for Cindy Weisbart.

Lunch with Paul and Ruth Richards at Paddy’s in West Newton

Super Bowl

Very exciting game during the last quarter. Improbable outcome.

Vertigo continues especially getting up in the middle of the night.

Sunday – 2/1/15

Continuing our Super Bowl Weekend.

Johnny D’s for Brunch with Boston gang. Frank Tadley, Ellen Feldman, Ruth Goodman attending. Spent most of the time taling with Frank. He told long story of a bike ride in early ’70s from Scotland to London. Then drove to Cindy Weisbart’s house. She is recovering from back surgery. Debbie Milligan appeared. Lunch with Ruth and Paul Richards at Cheescake Factory at Chestnut Hill Mall.

Backyard in Belmont

Backyard in Belmont

Back to Bill and Nancy’s house in Belmont. Weather forecast is for large snowstorm to move in so we care considering leaving to return to Hudson tonight and not be stuck here until Tuesday morning.

Good talk with them over Iggy’s pizza before game. Game was very exciting with Patriots pulling it out in a very unpredictable ending in the last seconds.

Drove to Hudson that evening. Began to snow seriously in the Berkshires on Mass Pike. Near white out conditions on Taconic at end.

November 2011

Tuesday – 11/1/2011

Drove to Boston to meet with Anthony Mancini at Bernstein. Big outcome is the need to look into Medicaid planning.

Had dinner with Ruth and Paul Richards in Needham. Food not very good. Conversation ok if predictable.

Stayed at Esther Hanig’s pad. Loud TV. Lots of ads we don’t usually see.

Wednesday – 11/2/2011

Took Karen to Griffin Museum for her class. Long drive down 93 to Mass Ave then down Washington Sts and Hyde Park Ave to Sprague St. and meeting with Mike Beach and Peter Flowers.

Mike’s mother had died the night before. Talked about mothers and death for a while. Then we looked at some of their recent work including photo laden process documentation for some transducers. Pete arrived late and I left early. Assume Mike really needed to get on with his personal stuff.

Visited Honan Alston Public Library. Took lots of pictures and talked with Librarian about this ten year old building. Very attractive, airy open floor plan. Some down sides but mostly a successful space.

Drove over to Cambridge for lunch with Linda Larson. Fixed little things on her computer until Karen showed up. Lunch at the Dolphin Restaraunt. Good foods. Linda talked as always. Plans with Karen for trip to NYC in January.

Went to New Balance store. Bought annual new sneakers and a pair of wind pants for outdoor running. Must try to run outdoors until much colder.

Stopped at Trader Joe’s to stock up on simmer sauces and other canned goods…waiting for Esther to arrive to go out to dinner. Karen is at Soup Group.

NO ENTRIES after these for month.
