3/7/2019 – library, work, tennis….

Thursday

Met with Miranda Barry at our home. Discuss transition issues when I become president again. More about starting a foundation and setting up a Fundraising Committee. 

Only a little UTMH work.

Met briefly w Cheryl Lacona about June exhibit at in the gallery. Think she is going to put too much stuff in  room.

Tennis lesson. Lot of focus on early prep for strokes. Racket up. Also change in stance and racket position at ready at net. 

Karen went off to meeting with Woodstock photog. group.

Wrote AD piece on Reich’s video Monopolization of America.

 

2/21/2019 Moodle,Tennis, UTMH

THURSDAY 2/21/2019

Late start, then work on Moodle at Learn.AmericanDelusions.com. Added new course focused on getting oriented and started  

Tennis lesson  lots of top speed rallying from baseline  Backand getting better  spent time on high backhands at net.  Also doing spin serve.

 

UTMH / talked withSeth about Troy Web  they don’t seem to understand our business model  nor are they  contributing creatively. Need to have top level conversation  about fixing things.

Karen went to new reading group engagement at girls only book club.

 

 

2/19/2018 – DOG, UTMH, tennis

Tuesday 2/19/2019

Up at 5:30. Met w Karen about forms on DOG site. Wrote piece for AD about Republican Party moral bankruptcy.  More time on OLDFandF.com.

Wrote more patient instructions for UTMH. 

Went to Total Tennis for singles nite. Played doubles with two different groups of guys. More competitive on average than the Wednesday group. Tall guy Rick with a funny but effective backhand. Very quick hands. Good serve. Short Indian guy Nick. Not a strong hitter but quick, good volleys. Als a kind of sour guy Kevin. Played until 9:15. I had some really striking sequences of shots. Good serving night.

2/15/2019 – personal work, mostly

Friday 2/15/2019

Spent morning on bills, paperwork, largely playing with BuddyPress. Did finally figure out that it has only a plain text post editor. Very strange. 

Met with Ole Breuning at Verdegris. Good talk about video and webinar projects. 

Wrote two AD posts during the day. replaced banner logo.  An hour at end of day devoted to adding 50 more names to the email list. Then Mailchimp  

Recently Noted – more unequal justice – lots of it….

Friday – 12/30/2016

Late start. Bad night’s sleep. Ate last of overly spicey leftover frittata. Worked on CurrentMatters, New banner for site; reorganized Our Situation materials. Nap.  Haircut and visit to Walmart. Talked with Brigid Dorsey at 5pm. The Bartlett House people have expressed interest in investing in her business, potential breakthrough.

Thursday – 12/29/2016

Utility trucks anticipating snow storm at Bob’s.

Breakfast at Bob’s Diner followed by shopping at Price Chopper. Started snowing before we headed home.

9am snow begins.

Back home in time for telecon with Nicole Marsalis about her resume. She is trying reenter the workforce after 12 yr. hiatus. Introduced her to functional resume. 

Walked to library in snow fall, spent rest of morning working on blog post about gig economy in the academy. Talked with library volunteer Ellen Henderson about winter and falling. Library staff give her a ride in bad weather . She is 92 yrs old.

Had soup at Cascades. Home in time to talk with Brigid Dorsey about her pro formas. Then refused and talked again. 

Walked to dinner with Ted Dewsnap and Anne Bertrand at their house on Worth Ave. Dinner is thanks for Karen’s lecture this Fall. Home by 10:15pm

 

Tuesday – 12/27/2016

PT with Corey Smith. Took boxes to UPS. Played with new camera.

Went to library. Published a posting, “A Note on Jobs & Unemployment” (http://currentmatters.markorton.com/2016/12/a-note-on-jobs-unemployment/). At Karen’s suggestion left out paragraph about adjunct professors in the universities.. Might expand that into seperate posting.

Karen decorated some stuffed animals.

    Set up of shoulder scrunch w back against wall.

New reading and a DVD documentary at library.

Telecon w Matt Almeida. 

Spent most of day in HAL volunteer management software selection process. Arranged demo next week. Finished use case. 

Small amount of time editing Angry (Old) White Guy essay.

Went to movies. Saw Allied. Old fashioned but effective. 

Thursday – 12/8/2016

Up at 7. In factory by 8:30. More work on Angry (Old) White Man essay. Made new library business cards with new logo.

Then started on use case essay for volunteer management software for HAL. Also reviewed more software.

Talked with Brigid Dorsey about revising business plans  

Annual appeal mailed from HAL arrived. Looks very good. 

Made carrot-mushroom loaf for dinner.

Wednesday – 12/7/2016

75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor attack.

Up early. Worked on Angry (Old) White Man essay. PT at 9:30.

Dropped package off at UPS.  Building undergoing renovations.  Didn’t know that that end had a curved roof.

HAL mtg about Volunteers at Verdigris at 11. New Board member Carol Pledger. Emily and Brenda too. Very good discussion of volunteer program. 

Returned to work on volunteer management software  

Tennis at night.  Played much better than usual until last 20 minutes.
