Saturday – 2/16/2019

After Bob’s Dinner and shopping, including bread at Farmers’ Market.

Stopped to chat with Joan Damiani  mostly talked with Karen about  spots to stop at in Italy.  Saw this painting that seemed unusual because of the lone figure in the corner. I asked Joan, “how did you know the paining was finished, complete?”

She said, “Oh, no. I was bored with painting the seashore so I stuck this guy in and it was done.”

Got to send this along to Josh Noble.

Spent day on BBPress, BuddyPress, PHPbb, and others. Searching for replacement for Facebook   

Monday – 1/23/2017

Slow start. Worked most of day on volunteer site for HAL. Brief walk up to 4th St and back. Bumped into Ruth Tamaroff.

Did shoulder exercises. Took a nap. Went to Verizonwireless store for new iPhones. Will go back another time. Too many people. Stopped at Walmart for frozen dinners. Sleet started at about 5:30 – continued heavily into the night. Cars were covered by 8pm.

Watched more of Homeland 6th season. Incision is still dribbling blood.

 

 

Sunday – 1/22/2017

Up early. Oatmeal and NYTimes. Lower back very sore, stiff. Lay in bed on heating pad for an hour. Helped a lot.  Wound from hydrocelectomy continues to get better.

Worked on HAL volunteer website most of the afternoon. 

Patriots beat Steelers to go to SuperBowl. Our first football game of the season. French toast for dinner. 

Sunday – 1/8/2017

Got up late at 8am. Snowman still standing. Breakfast with Sunday Times.

Worked on finding lightbox plugin for new DOG website. Finally Foobox Pro. 

Took walk up to 7th St. ran into Joe Ahern who lives in 200 block with his wife. I met him on Thursday at Bard. Have not bumped into him since the dinner at Dewsnap’s last spring. 

Fingers were cold even in heavy gloves. 

Defrosted beef stew. Added hot sauces. Very good.

Watched last of Danish Tv series Dicte. Watched second episode of 30 Rock. 

Friday – 12/30/2016

Late start. Bad night’s sleep. Ate last of overly spicey leftover frittata. Worked on CurrentMatters, New banner for site; reorganized Our Situation materials. Nap.  Haircut and visit to Walmart. Talked with Brigid Dorsey at 5pm. The Bartlett House people have expressed interest in investing in her business, potential breakthrough.

Friday- 12/23/2016

Yarn bombed decorations outside Verdigris. Done by the Thursday evening knitting group.

Woke up late. 7:45. Breakfast at Tanzys. Talked about the virtual DOG. Packed up one of sets of pictures from the last show. Looked for pop up layer or note plugin for WordPress. Paid bills. Sent summons from taxi company for last May’s accident to Travelers. Also created projected P&L for Brigid Dorsey. Sent note to Chad Weckler withdrawing from active participation in the makerspace projects, Hudson-Creative. Relieved about that.

Plenty of leftover beef stew.

Tuesday – 12/6/2016

Long breakfast at Bob’s. Review of Karen trip to New Mexico with Dorothy Nelson   Talked further about shutting down the physical gallery. Time to explore online exhibition software.

Revisiting MetaData – Your Life Made Visible

In the current moment much of the concern about privacy online and otherwise has been overwhelmed by Trump, inequality, racism and other matters. The NSA and other spies, government and corporate, are not taking a vacation.  I wrote earlier about this in  “The Uses of Metadata – an experiment you can conduct with your own life’s metadata” in July, 2013.

Recently I revisited Immersion: a people-centric view of your email life, the MIT project to visualize a tiny portion of the metadata ((metadata = a set of data that describes and gives information about other data. In the case of email this includes date and time; to, cc, bcc recipients; and subject line.)) of our lives, our emails. Continue reading →
