6/20/2019 – HAL, work, tennis lesson, Karen’s book group

Thursday

PT with Corey Smith at 7:30 am. Very productive.

Scrubbed through more old files from earlier websites. Lots of stuff to consolidate here.

Tennis lesson with Saif. Focus on less power and more consistent stroke paths. Toss ball really high for serve. Stretch up to reach the ball. Wrist is bothering me. Moved mouse pad to opposite side of keyboard. Will see if this helps.

Karen started cooking by mid morning. Her book group is meeting here. I cleaned the two rooms – vacuum, wash floors, etc. rearrange furniture.

I left for Bob’s for dinner at about 6pm. Came back around 7:30pm. Book group didn’t leave until 9:30 or later;

Potluck Dinner at Rasners.

Cooked Indian dishes. New guy in charge of Olana with his partner. Miranda Barry and Charlotte??. OK evening, but these are not people with whom we are socially at ease with.

Resupply for Office in Barn Project

Since I always underestimate we had to go to Lowes for resupply. Several sheets of everything, Needed material for the new display racks for front hall for Editions products.

Tied everything on top of car. Last time we did this was when we moved to Hudson in 2009. new floor under new carpet in bedroom upstairs. First time was undoubtedly for a trip to Somerville lumber back in 1977. Or even earlier.

No Heat

Vent pipe completely stuffed with debree

Vent pipe completely stuffed with debris

Turns out that the guys who rebuilt the chimney last week knocked debris down the flue completely occluding it. The four year old boiler has a sensor that prevents it from firing when there is no draft up the flue.

As soon as the plumber saw this he said, “Call the mason.” he wouldn’t take a swing at fixing it.

So I called Preston Schrader. He immediately offered to come Saturday morning to fix things.

HAL

Met with Marie, Gwen, and Anna Rachminov to discuss next year’s budget.

Saturday – 3/28/15

IMG_9513Went to gym, then breakfast at Bob’s diner. Conversation about free markets and how best to present ideas about how ideas about them permeate the culture.

IMG_9518 (1)Reading

Picked up book on slavery, cotton and capitalism at the library. Must write an essay about the four or five books that have transformed my view of race in American history in the last few years.

Stopped at Moto for coffee at 2:30 pm. Worked on corporate organization trends essay.

Bob's mocha latte

Bob’s mocha latte

Bob and Marie Rasner came in. Bob likes to talk. Told stories of his corporate life.

UTM call with Troy Web about new Apple app provisioning process. Procedures still unclear.

Karen has gone off with David Drake, SJ Williams to movies in Albany.

Tuesday – 2/10/15

FullSizeRender 18Shoveled garage doorway out so that I could drive car to UTM. In the end, though the storm carried on for almost 24 hrs. it only left 8 inches of snow here.

Meeting at UTM with Seth, Eliel and Jan to discuss development costs. David stuck his head in but did not attend. After almost a year we are still in a situation where there is no plan or none that anyone is adhering too.

Left UTM meeting to come home for a meeting of the HAL Nominating Committee. I scheduled this on Tuesday because David had cancelled the regular weekly UTM meetings on Tuesdays. Because of the repeated snow storms, this committee meeting has been rescheduled twice. Today, out of six members, only Marie Rasner and Gwen Gould showed up. Still a good productive meeting. Talked a somewhat reluctant Gwen into serving as Treasurer for one year. Brian Stickles who I bumped into at KASH just this morning has committed to being Treasurer next year after he finishes his MBA.

Karen decided not to go to Boston tomorrow because the snow storms – 77″ of snow in 17 days – have paralyzed the place.
